RIP

Val and to happy times with Mum and Dad - as said, a simpler time of real values and family togetherness, I miss that comfort

Yep, that sounds familiar.

(And there was the sniggering at the 'VD' joke, being young 'erberts at the time).

RIP VD.

used to stay round my great aunt's when I was little and got to watch val doonican's show. it was always enjoyable, val normally wearing some impressive knitwear and having guests like the spinners joining him each week. seemed a gentler time back then, and val was a lovely bloke

I'm reminded of a far simpler time before the advent of Smartphones, CGI, computers, SatNav, and Ant & fucking Dec.

RIP

Delaney's Donkey could have kicked Paddy McGinty's Goat's arse anytime he wanted.

We welcome, Val Doonican, as himself.
"Hullo there, hullo there."

Re: Paddy McGinty's Goat (RIP Val Doonican)
This came as quite a shock to me as I thought he had died years ago. He looked 80 when I was a kid, in his wonky old rocking chair, so he must have has a good innings how old was he. 88. He must have been older than that.

I'd better start looking over me shoulder for the Grim Reaper then as I'm inching towards 60, only 28 more years to go and I still wont get to see West Ham beat the fucking scousers at Anfield before I shuffle off this mortal coil

Blimey. Must have been a good age. A permanent on TV when I was a kid. Better than all this snoop roger rog rap shit you get these days.

RIP Val.

My mum loved val doonican, because when he came on tv I'd immediately stop arguing about it being bedtime as he bored me to absolute tears.

Re: Paddy McGinty's Goat (RIP Val Doonican)
Val Doonican had a golden voice a brilliant singer who gave life to some pretty average songs simply because he had the brilliant voice to do so and that twinkle In his eye was as warm as Irish whisky on a cold winters night.

Its a shame our Children will never experience such warmth and humility from their stars on TV .

R.I.P Warm wonderful friend Val Doonican, a truly decent wonderful entertainer.

Remember his regular appearances on the TV 40 years ago or so. Never his greatest fan but all our parents used to love him.

He died the day the treacherous BBC cancelled him from their Christmas Eve line up.
